What is the general process for receiving dentures?
There are several steps involved in getting dentures which are typically separated into multiple appointments. Prior to receiving dentures, your gums and soft tissues must be examined, and the dimensions and shape of your dentures must be determined. Dentures will then be tried on for fit and adjusted in your final appointment.
Can I choose dentures instead of a dental implant?
Of course! The choice is ultimately up to you. Dentures serve as a great alternative to dental implants, and you can speak with our highly trained staff to determine which treatment best matches your needs.
Are there any special care instructions for dentures?
While dentures look and feel like natural teeth, their composition is slightly weaker and must be considered for general care. When brushing, it is recommended to use dish-washing liquid and a denture brush to gently clean dentures daily. Dentures should also be stored overnight in a water-based cleaning solution.
Are there any eating restrictions with dentures?
While dentures are designed to function like natural teeth, it is recommended that you refrain from eating hard or sticky foods, as that may quicken the wear and tear of your dentures. Additionally, it is not recommended that you chew gum with dentures.
Can I sleep while wearing my dentures?
Although it is safe to sleep with your dentures overnight, it is generally recommended that dentures be stored in a water-based cleaning solution while you sleep. This not only ensures that your dentures remain clean, but it also allows your gums and jaw to relax from the pressure of wearing the denture during the day.
